Spotscale and Kiwa to Present Storfinnforsen Paper at ICOLD

Spotscale and Kiwa Technical Consulting will present their joint technical paper, "Lighting the way," at the 13th ICOLD European Club Symposium, featuring Uniper’s Storfinnforsen dam.

By processing 300,000 drone images captured in dark, GPS-denied internal galleries, the team built a 93-billion-pixel 3D model. The workflow combines AI detection with Kiwa’s structural expertise to verify and measure cracks down to 0.2 mm with 3D spatial precision.

This delivers a permanent structural baseline for future Periodic Safety Reviews (PSRs) while completely removing the need for high-risk scaffolding in confined spaces.
